Kohl says: I was going to just put more dreads in, but since I really loved the box braids I saw on kaytea , I thought I'd have a go .. something different anyway! The hardest part by far was deciding what the hell to do with my natural dreads ... they're quite short, so if Ileave them loose underneath a style they tend to poke through. but then doing anything other than wrapping [which takes ages] can look a bit bulky. Anyway, I basically braided in two lengths of pony hair with each dread till Igot to the end of my natural hair, rubber banded it then added in another section of hair so that I could continue box braiding till I got the length I wanted. Sounds confusing? It is hehe. Those still look a bit bulky - it'd be far easier if i had loose hair which I could have easily incorporated into plain box braids, but hey. I was just experimenting. I basically then added in sections of fluffed up hair to the roots of my hair and braided those, so they are much neater and more uniform. It's a shame I couldn't get them to look like that all over, but it's just impossible with dreads. I was just messing around to see what I could do though. |
