James says:
The stylist (whose name is Carolann) started by braiding a row of the synthetic hair into my hair using the "pinchbraiding" method (doing traditional extention braiding method then tying a string around the braid after about half an inch,) then would backcomb that whole row, then steam it with this big steaming machine they had, twist and steam some more...I didn't get to see this process but the friend I had with me said it reminded him of shrinkwraping (I assume because the hair would crinkle up and shrink.) She did the outside edges of the hair (the back row and sides) in doubles, meaning that she did one braid but then split the synthetic hair in half and made two seperate dreads of it, to make it fuller. She did about 10 rows all together with about 5 dreads per row.
You can see my original length because I died the bits pink/orange after having the dreads put in. They were really big for a little while and it's only been a week and a half and my hair is already starting to come of the braids out in back (though this wouldn't be a problem for someone with long hair...mine was only about 3-4 inches in the back)...my scalp has been itching the whole time and overall I'd say it wasn't worth the very high price (it was 475...they charged me for a "full head" even though I only have an undercut, half as much hair as a regular full head..) It took 6 hours. It looks great now, but I don't expect them to last longer than a month or so all together. I wouldn't go back to them unless I found myself with major cash to blow.
