this one and the other ones with the neon-green latex tubing are probably my favorite, but unfortunately not for a permanant basis. all the tubes are tied in AROUND my existing waist-length human hair dreads. the big latex tubes took the least amount of time and effort to put in. BUT, i can put up with a LOT of pulling and weight although after about 2 and a half weeks, they had to go - i was getting constant headaches and after i noticed a few dreads getting ripped out at the root, i took them out. :( overall, it was pretty successful, and only moderately damaging to the rest of my hair, i just hope one little bald spot will grow back. knotted in are 4-6 foot (doubled up) lengths of 3/8" thick latex tubing, 1/4" darker green vinyl tubing (both of these materials bought at canal rubber in nyc, and probably available on their website). the latex tubing was uv reactive as were the spiral vinyl jumpropes bought a a dime store on the walk home. chopped off the handles and they were good to tie in! also looped in was 20 feet (total) of black spiral cut cable wrap. (radio shack, $3 for 10 feet.) this can just be wound around existing hair (or tubes) pretty effortlessly. it comes in black and clear at more specialty electronics stores. also were about 15 feet of cat5 (ethernet) cable w/ the wires taken out of it so it was just the sheath. a lot of the weight was held up for playing out with the goggles strapped on very tightly. to make it even heavier, i wove in 12 bendable wires w/ yellow led's at each end, with the aaa battery pack in the eyepiece of the goggle. this power should last more than 12 hours. the first time knotting in all the tubes took about an hour and a half, then each subsequent time just to put it up and put in the lights was about a half hour.
